INVISALIGN

Invisalign braces use the most advanced invisible aligner system in the world. Used and loved by orthodontists, dentists and patients worldwide, Invisalign aligners help patients to achieve straighter teeth in just a matter of months, all with the use of near-invisible aligners.

At Space Dental, we are one of the leading dentists for Invisalign in the UK and as a result, we have achieved Elite Apex status, completing 2,345 Invisalign aligner cases per year. Our founder, director and cosmetic lead Dr Affan is a lecturer for Invisalign braces and has instructed and educated over 10,000 dentists on using Invisalign. If you’re looking for an industry-leading clinic for Invisalign braces, then you’ve found the right place!

What is Invisalign®?

Invisalign is different from more traditional teeth aligning methods, such as metal braces. Invisalign braces use virtually invisible aligners and fully removable trays that are free from uncomfortable and unsightly wires and brackets. Invisalign aligners don't affect your diet or brushing habits and, as they are removable, they allow you to continue eating all your favourite foods and keep your teeth feeling clean throughout your treatment.

With Invisalign, these invisible aligners move your teeth a small amount. Throughout your treatment for Invisalign, you’ll regularly change to new sets of invisible aligner trays to continue moving your teeth into the desired position.

Benefits Of Invisalign Aligners

Traditional metal braces, whilst effective, can be uncomfortable and unsightly. If you are considering orthodontic treatment as an adult, you may be wary of traditional teeth straightening treatments because of their appearance. However, Invisalign aligners get rid of the stigma associated with braces by using almost invisible aligners, providing a new and modern alternative to teeth straightening treatments, promising effective and quick results, all whilst ensuring the treatment is convenient for you.

Invisalign aligners can correct a number of common orthodontic concerns, such as gaps in between teeth, teeth crowding, underbites and overbites. Typically, Invisalign braces are recommended for a number of cases, however, for more serious orthodontic cases, other treatments may be advised.

How Does Invisalign Work?

Following your consultation for Invisalign braces, we’ll begin the process for your treatment with digital moulding. 3D digital imagery, photography and X-Rays are used to generate an identical replica of your teeth and mouth. Then, using this data, the Invisalign laboratory can create your bespoke Invisalign invisible aligners. These trays work to adjust your teeth and carefully move them following your personalised treatment plan, designed and tailored by our dentists. This treatment plan ensures that the correct teeth are adjusted at the right time, consistent with the stages outlined in the plan.

The length of Invisalign treatment differs from case to case. Patients can, on average, expect to start seeing results in the first few weeks of their treatment when wearing their Invisalign invisible aligners and, on average it can take between 12-18 months for treatment, from start to finish. Some cases may see results quicker, whereas, for others, treatment may take slightly longer. During your initial consultation for Invisalign, we’ll discuss your proposed treatment plan and your dentist will be able to give you an idea as to how long treatment will take.
Compared to traditional braces that use tightened metal wires and brackets, Invisalign's invisible aligners use gentle pressure to slowly align teeth into place. As your teeth move into place, you will be regularly given new invisible aligner trays, so these will feel tighter than your last set of trays as you get used to the change. Any initial discomfort will soon disappear and, as you near the end of your Invisalign brace journey, the changes in the invisible aligners will become more manageable.
As with all treatments, Invisalign isn’t for everyone and there may be some disadvantages to treatment. One of the biggest drawbacks to having Invisalign braces is that you are recommended to wear the invisible aligners for around 20-22 hours per day, taking them out to eat and brush your teeth. Compared to metal braces, however, which are a permanent fixture until your teeth are in the desired position, this is a small price to pay. Invisalign braces also aren’t recommended for more serious orthodontic concerns and alternative treatments may be suggested during your initial consultation.
Invisalign aligners – the invisible aligners used throughout your Invisalign treatment – are changed every 1-2 weeks or as recommended by our dentists. The exact time between changing the Invisalign braces, however, is dependent on your case and how frequently you wear your aligners during the day.

If you don’t wear them for the recommended 20-22 hours per day, your treatment progress will slow, meaning there is more time between changing your Invisalign aligners. For teeth that need more movement, it may take longer to manipulate the teeth into the next desired position.
Invisalign is a highly popular teeth straightening treatment and, with over 14 million people having had Invisalign treatment across the globe, the results speak for themselves! Recent studies have shown that the invisible aligners used for Invisalign can be just as effective in treatment for moderate orthodontic complaints as traditional metal braces. On average, Invisalign has a 96% success rate when used for treatments such as closing gaps in between teeth, fixing crossbites and realignment, so yes – treatment using Invisalign aligners does work.
